Young Artist’s Studio: Painting
Bring on the paint, the brushes and
the fun. In this class, young artists (Grades 1 – 6) will explore the wonderful
possibilities that result when child meets paint.
When: Four

In this
workshop we will:
- Use paint, brushes and other tools to create line, shapes, patterns and texture.
- Consider how simple lines, shapes and color combine to create works of art.
- Discover the joy and technique of using color.
- Observe and talk about the work of famous artists.
- Share our work and learn ways to talk about what we see.
The studio
atmosphere is designed to encourage creative expression, shared ideas and
flexible thinking, and offer opportunities for students to see and think about
the visual world in new ways.
A Palette of Possibilities

NOTE: This fine arts class is
designed to be taken with the painting class, or on its own. It is a chance for young artists to:
- Develop and improve drawing and painting skills
- Learn design techniques to bring creative ideas to life
- Create drawings and paintings in different styles
- Experiment with a variety of tools and media, including paint, pastels, markers and color pencils.
- Explore the work of famous artists.
- Share our work and learn ways to talk about what we see and like.

About the
teacher: Tobi Kibel Piatek enjoys teaching creative kids. She is a lifelong
artist and designer, with years of experience teaching, and teaching about,
talented and gifted kids. Her lively classes stimulate kids’ ideas and
encourage them to think creatively critically as they work on challenging and
interesting art projects. She has a degree in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute in
New York.
