SUMMER ART for CREATIVE KIDS

Young Artist’s Studio: Painting 

Bring on the paint, the brushes and the fun. In this class, young artists (Grades 1 – 6) will explore the wonderful possibilities that result when child meets paint.

When:   Four classes, 10:00 am to noon
Session One: Monday, June 18, Wednesday, June 20
Monday, June 25, Wednesday, June 27
 
Session Two: Monday July 16, Wednesday July 18,
Monday July 23, Wednesday July 25

Where:  Van Raden Community Center – Art Room
              8535 SW Tualatin Rd., Tualatin

Cost:     $80 for Tualatin residents
              $100 for non-residents

All materials provided. Students, please bring a “painting” shirt

In this workshop we will:
  • Use paint, brushes and other tools to create line, shapes, patterns and texture.
  • Consider how simple lines, shapes and color combine to create works of art.
  • Discover the joy and technique of using color.
  • Observe and talk about the work of famous artists.
  • Share our work and learn ways to talk about what we see.
The studio atmosphere is designed to encourage creative expression, shared ideas and flexible thinking, and offer opportunities for students to see and think about the visual world in new ways.

A Palette of Possibilities

Grades 1 - 5   10:00 am to noon
Grades 6 - 10 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
            Tuesday July 17, Thursday July 19,
            Tuesday July 24, and Thursday, July 26

NOTE: This fine arts class is designed to be taken with the painting class, or on its own. It is a chance for young artists to:
  • Develop and improve drawing and painting skills
  • Learn design techniques to bring creative ideas to life
  • Create drawings and paintings in different  styles
  • Experiment with a variety of tools and media, including paint, pastels, markers and color pencils.
  • Explore the work of famous artists.
  • Share our work and learn ways to talk about what we see and like.
The studio atmosphere is designed to encourage creative expression, shared ideas and flexible thinking, and offer opportunities for students to see and think about the visual world in new ways.

About the teacher: Tobi Kibel Piatek enjoys teaching creative kids. She is a lifelong artist and designer, with years of experience teaching, and teaching about, talented and gifted kids. Her lively classes stimulate kids’ ideas and encourage them to think creatively critically as they work on challenging and interesting art projects. She has a degree in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute in New York.
